Context
Originating from Gibraltar, Melon Diesel emerged onto the Spanish rock scene in the 1990s with significant commercial success. Over their two-decade career, they earned Latin American Grammy Award nominations and shared stages with iconic acts like REM, the Manic Street Preachers, and Oasis.

Concept
Inspired by Melon Diesel's late 1990s aesthetic, the design approach featured blocky typography, vibrant colour contrasts, and included a nod to a local landmark: the pyramid, located at what was locally known as "the last shop in Europe". We wanted to channel the 90s rough, grunge aesthetic as a reference to their upcoming era; this is visible in the identity through the choice in typography, logomark and photographic styling.

Contribution
My contribution to the project took a different turn to the more digital-focused and creation side of things that I was used to. This time I was involved in the photographic direction and photography of the merchandise and event itself. Most of the physical applications, such as the poster and stickers, as well as merchandise were photographed prior to the event and were shot around the streets of Gibraltar as a subtle reference to the band’s origins and to contribute to the street-style aesthetic we were going for. We did do studio shoots but felt that the majority of the photography should feel immersive, authentic and humble and as such would be captured at the event or around town.
